“A DREAM BUILDER: You don’t build it for yourself; you know what the people want, and you build it for them.”

—Walt Disney

Greetings, citizens of Colleton County!  My name is Hiram E.M. Davis. I am excited to announce that I am running to be your next Colleton County Councilman. If elected, I will be acquiring the duties of Colleton County Council Eastern District 23, Seat 3. This position needs to be filled with an open-minded individual who possesses the following: an ear and heart to hear the voices of all citizens, a sense of ingenuity, integrity, and phenomenal leadership skills. In addition, this individual needs to be someone that works for the citizens every single day while in office. Also, one that can be seen working throughout their tenure in office not just during election season.  I am ready to execute all of the duties that will help navigate our great county forward and upward.

Born to Hiram E. Davis and the late Miriam Ackerman Davis, I am a native son of Colleton County. I resided in Colleton County most of my life but relocated to the metro Atlanta area in 2015 for college. In 2021, I returned home with much knowledge and enthusiasm, ready to WORK for change in the community. I am a proud 2009 graduate of Colleton County High School. I was fondly noted for my work with the Colleton County High School Chorus, initiating the school’s first Gospel Choir, and organizing and starting the first annual Colleton County High School Black History Program that is still held annually.

With years of law enforcement experience, I worked for various agencies and in two states during my tenure as a law enforcement officer. Currently, I am the Choral Director at Allendale-Fairfax Middle & High School.  I am also the proud owner of D&D Printing and Publications, a branch of H. Davis & Davis LLC.  In my leisure time, I enjoy cooking, beautifying my yard, farming, hunting, and fishing. Further, I enjoy rendering music to various churches throughout the community and surrounding areas. At present, I am the Minister of Music at the New Ashley Baptist Church in Summerville, South Carolina. I can continue to expound upon my innumerable achievements and accolades, but ultimately, I want you to know, I am The Voice for the People: Your Voice, Your Choice.

Hiram Davis believes his impact does not stop as a teacher or former law enforcement officer. He is and will always be an advocate to expand fair wages and ensure hardworking Colleton County citizens can earn a decent living on a comfortable wage/salary. All while advocating for the youth and seniors of our great county.

Actively involved in the community, I am a member of many social and civic organizations such as Prince Hall Masons, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People-Colleton Branch (NAACP), National Council of Negro Women-Associate Member-Colleton Section (NCNW), National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, South Carolina Mortician’s Association, Colleton County Democratic Party, and the National Sheriff’s Association.

While serving as Colleton County Councilman, my top goals include working toward developing and maintaining a flourishing economy, ultimately creating wages that will alleviate the escalating cost of living, work in conjunction with our county school board to enhance and maintain a thriving school district, and make our county more inviting to those prospective persons interested in relocating here. Our augmented housing costs are pricing our young men and women out of opportunities to reside and purchase in our county. Along with the aforementioned projects, I also plan to bridge the gap with our youth and senior citizens, and supplement funding to provide more training for our county deputies in deescalating capricious encounters, and work to address mental health resources. IT IS T.I.M.E.—Transparency, Integrity, Movement, Equality.
